What are the ethics of donating to a candidate seeking election in a country you don’t live in?
I’m a British citizen who is following the Obama campaign closely. I’m on their email list, and therefore keep getting inspirational emails with requests for small donations. I haven’t donated yet, because I didn’t feel comfortable giving to a campaign for election in a nation of which I am not a citizen. BUT seeing as how the incumbent of the White House has a global impact on all nations, is there an ethical case for individual donors (not corporates) to be allowed to send money from other countries in support of their preferred candidates?
