Where can I find good, targeted email lists?

I am the author of a business book that’s specifically targeted to women, home-based business owners. It’s already considered a business bestseller. After the holidays I’m interested in doing a promotional campaign to make my book a bestseller on Amazon.com.

To do this I have to find people with good, current email DB lists (can be a few hundred to thousands) that contains a lot of women, home-based business owners.

Of course there’s a win-win benefit for those list owners who decide to work with me.

Any ideas where I can locate people with good lists.

All the best,

In reply to Cassandra’s question - the name of my book is “Testosterone-Free Marketing” and you can get a personally autographed copy at http://www.tfmbook.com It’s a myth-shattering book for thousands of women who’ve read it and created more cash flow in their businesses.

All the best,

Hi Spamdex:

I’ve contacted list brokers in the past and amazingly they don’t have lists of “women, home-based business owners.” Surprising, but true. They have “home-based business owners” and they have “women” but not both to make it more specific.

Plus, they “seed” their lists so that if you send more than one email - it’s a problem since you’re renting the list for one time only. With an Amazon push you send a series of 7-8 emails so that doesn’t quite cut the mustard.

What I need to find are people with a site and an ezine for example that goes out to several thousand people. Or, a top level MLMer with a big email list.

I can’t actually use their list. The emails have to come from the owner of the list - but I write them. I’ve watched very closely how other authors I know closely do this and generally list brokers would be an excellent answer but not in this particular situation.

thanks much, Spamdex.

    Hi Denise:

I realized that my request has nothing to do with your question, but I’m very interested in reading your book. Please share the name of your book with me.

Also, would you be interested in selling me your old list. I’m searching for other women in business for networking purposes. if you’re interested in taking a look, prior to responding.

    Thanks, Cassondra

What you need is a list broker. You can find scads of them at the link below.

You tell them exactly what you’re looking for and they’ll send you what’s called “data cards,” which are descriptions of the sorts of names in the list and what it’ll cost you.

I wouldn’t be sharing lists with people you don’t know from the Internet. There are privacy laws that must be adhered to. As a list renter, it’s incumbent upon you to ensure that the lists you rent adhere to the privacy laws. You also have to ensure that the people on the list that you own have given you permission to share their information.

This is especially important given the nature of your book and the fact that you’re selling yourself as a marketing expert (based on the subject area of your book). There are a lot of marketing experts reading these questions.

    Good luck!

    Hi Denise,

You may want to do a search on Google for
    women business owners+ezine

Another alternative, (this is one that I use for ezine advertising) is The Directory of Ezines.

They list ezines by subject, subscribers etc. Considered for years to be the top ezine directory.

There are ezines that have one thousand to over twenty thousand subscribers. This may be what you’re looking for.

You can do a solo ad or an endorsed mailing. In an endorsed mailing the ezine publisher more or less endorses your product.

    Hopefully that was helpful.
