How should Obama use the millions of people who signed up to help his campaign? ?

13 million - number of people on Obama’s campaign email list, twice as much as Moveon.org the largest online political organization.

3 million - number of people who donated to his campaign.

2 million - number of profiles created by supporters on MyBarackObama.com

1.2 million - number of volunteers who were recruited by Obama’s campaign.

4,500 - number of “house parties” - designed to organize and discuss political issues - held by Obama supporters in December.

5,000 - number of groups who responded to a call from Obama’s transition team for reports on the best way to tackle health care issues.

100,000 - number of people who voted on Change.gov for questions they would most like to see Obama answer.

What can Obama do to harness the power of this community for the good of the country?

I Got an Email from Barack - What do you think it means?

This email’s subject is ‘How this Happened’. He apparently wrote the email just before he was “about to head to Grant Park to talk to everyone gathered there.”

He talked about how we made history today as well as all throughout the campaign. He went on to say…

“Every day you knocked on doors, made a donation, or talked to your family, friends, and neighbors about why you believe it’s time for change.”

He thanked all those who gave support during the campaign; either by “time, talent, and passion.”

He said we’ve got a lot of work ahead and would be in touch soon about “whats next.”

Finally he closes with his “one clear message”…

“All of this happened because of you. ”

He signed off and at the very bottom of the email there’s a DONATE button.

———

What do you think this means?

What do you think he means by “Time for Change”?

s??? bu?p??? ?o? s?u???

Do you think this is what we can expect from his presidency; always asking for our money? What’s in it for us?

Why does the Obama campaign insist on?

perpetuating lies? The Obama campaign in claiming now that Pennsylvania Repubicans sent a false email around claiming that Obama trained ACORN workers.

What’s false about it since he DID.

Walter D, I was talking about the ACORN training, not about *** ed for kindergarteners. Big difference
Alexia M
The link I give is not a video, it’s a PDF file that comes directly from the “social policy” magazine site, run by… the American Institute of Social Justice and the ACORN Institute.

Does anyone feel these candidates are not educated on the needs of Americans?

We have a reality out here in the real world with drought and conditions that aren’t perfect. Do you think anyone running is aware of these conditions and how they need to be changed? How about gas prices and alternative vehicles being manufactured? How about food sources for the coming winter? How about a census of how many persons live in America? How about education ? I could go on and on and on about how this government is ineffective. How about you Can you think of three issues that need to be addressed in America? Will you write congress and bring these to the attention of our government officials so as we may have them addressed. Will you be an effective part of change? Use the computor email your representative with a thought process campaign to assist America. To iniate changes on a level that is relevant to citizens in the US. Will you help? Will you write something that needs to be addressed that is not. Drought? Farming and Food issues? Education? Crime? Help reorganize!!!

Is it illegal to send out free material by mail to a mailing list?

If so, why is it legal to purchase mailing lists with the intention to send out mass mailings and make telemarketing campaigns? Will someone please help me with the legalities of this practice? I have been researching it for days. Laws regarding email and electronic spam are very clear, but snail mail is much fuzzier.

have you seen the email letter about gas war?

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from
one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It ‘ s worth
your consideration.

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!!
Want gasoline prices to come down?
We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the “don’t buy gas on a certain day” campaign that was going around last
April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn’t continue to “hurt”
ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.
Please read on and join with us! By now you’re probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap.
Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations
have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive
action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace….. not sellers.
With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not
purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How?

Since we all rely on our cars, we can’t just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on
gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here’s the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON’T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one),
EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.
If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers.
It’s really simple to do! Now, don’t wimp out at this point…. keep reading and I’ll explain how simple it is to reach
millions of people.

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 =3D 300) … and
those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =3D 3,000)…and so on, by the time the message reaches the
sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it…..
THREE >>>>HUNDRED MILLION >>>>PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That’s all. (If you don’t understand how we can reach 300 million and
all you have to do is send this to 10 people….
Well, let’s face it, you just aren’t a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION
people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I’ll bet you didn’t think you and I had that much potential, did you?

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.
I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND
KEEP THEM DOWN.

THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

Conspiracy Theory: Palins Email Hacked?

This is strictly for fun.
This is not about the fact that hacking email is illegal (we all know it is)
nor is it about how her privacy was violated (ethically it was, no matter if you think it was partially justified).

So last night I was reading about all this and found a chat thread were a few people were ticked because the know the conspiracy theory people will immediately blame the DNC camp and Obama.

Others pointed out that while that was an easy conclusion to reach, it was really too simple an answer given that only the most useless information from the account got publicly posted (seeded across) on the web. That a more interesting assumption was that Karl Rowe had it done so he can spin it into a sort of watergate issue and make people sympathize with the victim, i.e. Palin.

As I’m going to sleep though a beautiful theory occurs to me. What if this is Carleton Fiorina paying back Sarah Palin for cutting her off from the main campaign? That’s a great motive for someone who probably has the skills to do it in an untraceable way. Plus it has the added benefit of them almost certainly turning back to Carly for advise on how to toughen up their PC security to prevent another hacking!

A very pretty little theory I think. And maybe, just maybe Karl Rowe sort of suggested it to Carly because he a) knew he could spin the results in favor of the McCain ticket and b) that he felt having Carly around was more important than the mistake she made in the interviews the day before

Why Carleton Fiorina was cut off from media access thus giving her a motive for this: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/9/17/2172/51510/770/601288 & why Palin was so mad at Carly: http://thinkprogress.org/2008/09/17/palin-fiorina-ceo/
come on guys, give me YOUR conspiracy theories!
and for heaven sake, why did that idiot just spam a chat software? don’t follow it, it could be a virus or cookie grabber site that enables them to hack you!
hey Paul Grass, do you know who Carly is? She works for the RNC and McCains campaign, but most importantly she is the former CEO of HP!
