How should Obama use the millions of people who signed up to help his campaign? ?

13 million - number of people on Obama’s campaign email list, twice as much as Moveon.org the largest online political organization.

3 million - number of people who donated to his campaign.

2 million - number of profiles created by supporters on MyBarackObama.com

1.2 million - number of volunteers who were recruited by Obama’s campaign.

4,500 - number of “house parties” - designed to organize and discuss political issues - held by Obama supporters in December.

5,000 - number of groups who responded to a call from Obama’s transition team for reports on the best way to tackle health care issues.

100,000 - number of people who voted on Change.gov for questions they would most like to see Obama answer.

What can Obama do to harness the power of this community for the good of the country?
NCSF? What is that?

He’s already doing it — engaging all those people to become active in their own communities in the interest of causes that mean something to them.

Note re above: this invitation to become active in our communities comes with no strings attached or suggested activities. Just that we be involved.

    He’s already doing something….see:.
He is also helping to organize and plan events around the nation for MKL service day, as well as other service days throughout the year. You can find out more on that site. Generally speaking, The campaign ONLY used those sign-ups for the actual event where the sign up took place. If someone signed up for campaign emails, they shouldn’t be still receiving campaign emails…but if they sign up for updates on service events, for example, then the office will send them info as it comes in.

He’s already using that mailing list and his campaign groups, etc., to try to get people to sign up to join community do-good groups within your own zip code. I could be wrong but I believe that each of these grassroots groups will determine their own projects. The first call to action came out a few days ago with another email to follow soon with more details, or so we are told.

NCSF is a term created by the black helicopter crowd — stands for national civilian security force. In one of his speeches, Obama noted that national security doesn’t depend on just the military but on diplomats, and police forces, and other folks like teachers who serve the country.

As to who he should use his list of people, it depends upon in what sense you mean should. I would think that part of his intentions will be to find local projects that they can help out on — things like Habitat for Humanity and blood drives. The other part will be using e-mail to inform them about major legislation and using them to lobby Representatives and Senators to get the legislation passed.
