Why do people say its illegal to purchase controlled drugs online but its legal to send them in the mail?
There are all sorts of online pharmacies that send narcotics to patients through the mail. As long as you have a perscription its legal. And all you need is a doctor to ask you a few medical questions and to write you the perscription and a pharmacist to fill the Rx and send it out. What is illegal about that? Is there a law that says all consultations must be done in person? Now dont get me wrong I do NOT use any narcotics I am just curious as to how this can be classified as illegal.

It is legal to buy drugs online as long as they are not controlled substances. You do not need a prescription. The online “doctors” who give “prescriptions” for controlled substances do not meet the requirements of the law. To obtain a controlled substance one must have a prescription from a licensed doctor that one has seen in his or her office. You may fill this prescription online if you fax the prescription to an online pharmacy and they confirm the prescription. The illegality of buying controlled substances online is a little complex since foreign countries are frequently involved. A company from the Bahamas may take your order and have it filled somewhere in South America who mails the drug to you. Certain parts of this transaction are legal but the transaction as a whole is illegal and the drugs obtained this way (without a VALID prescription) are considered illegally possessed.
