Who agrees that there needs to be an over 18 category?
Face it there are people on Y/A that give questionable answers to ridiculous questions.
there are also users that post questions that do nothing but upset people and the poster rarely looks for a ‘real’ answer.
lets all email Yahoo and ask for an over 18 category…
give some suggestions on the name and lets get going on an email campaign.
I suggest…
Anything goes
uncensored
tell us how you really feel
its an idea…
its not a finished idea, just a ‘what if’…
instead of posting how do you keep them off, try posting a suggestion.
like age verification with a drivers license number and an additional password.
how about a disclaimer that you have to be over 18.
CheezWhiz
great concept I like it…
sorry Yoda, but the ‘real’ jedimaster got banned and this one has to ‘work and play well with others’….
arwen
i am well over 18 and yea i do give answers that make people feel bad…
stccld
take a deep breath…

True but how do you control who is 18?
February 21st, 2010 at 10:49 pm
But how do you keep 13 yr. olds off? They will just go in that catergory anyway. I keep my kids off the site even though I think they would really enjoy MOST of it…

Hel… I mean HECK YEAH. (kidding)
If you want over 18 stuff there’s plenty of chatrooms for that. Most Q’s I’ve seen here that would belong in an over 18 category are just put there by lonely guys asking “DOS ANYBOTY WHANT TO HAVE *** WIT MAH? or “Is my wiener too big? It’s 15″ long…?
I commend the intent to improve this site but sorry I disagree with you becasue I just don’t see the value it would bring.
February 26th, 2010 at 8:56 pm
Definately!
There are plenty of sites that already do that and a “I am over 18″ button is all it takes. If fact, yahoo already has adult profiles with that button. Kids can and will get into all sorts of things (worse than adult chat I might add) with unrestricted access to a computer. But some weeding out of children AND the hopefully ensuing decrease in censorship for that forum would please me.

sounds good, but the kiddies will still get through. face it our chats are more interesting
March 4th, 2010 at 11:44 am
There already is a over 18 category, because I’m over 18, way over 18.
March 7th, 2010 at 10:36 am
I agree, but how to enforce it?
March 10th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
I don’t think thats going to help anyone. Besides anyone can make a profile and put whatever age they want in it.
However, I agree with you, but think its more about moderation. There’s really not enough here. But we just skip those questions we dont’ like, and move on.
March 11th, 2010 at 9:38 am
Probably the only way to enforce 18+ is via credit card verification. Even then not that many would use it. However it would keep all the immatures out, and only some minors using their parents CC would get in.
Yahoo could’ve takeen the google approach ( ) but as you can see on there, there isn’t much traffic, and the quality of questions and answers are of much of a higher intellect.
i dont mind an over 18+ category, but i believe yahoo is trying to keep it clean sexually. I remember yahoo having an adult section in their directory a few years back but since, this was removed. They gotta keep the clean family image going.
March 13th, 2010 at 9:40 pm
I think there should be several age categories …under 18, 18-36, 37-50, 51 and over. I get tired of all the juvenile stuff I see here.
March 15th, 2010 at 10:58 am
How about an over 81 category?
March 16th, 2010 at 2:19 pm
I will support your idea.
March 17th, 2010 at 4:21 pm
I once suggested an over 30 category….and some people were insulted they would be lumped into the under 30…LOL
Can;t win..
March 18th, 2010 at 2:44 am
Yep. They should have some kinda mild electroshock thingy that will keep the kids off.
March 21st, 2010 at 12:56 am
I agree this would be nice, but kids would still get in, and people would still put the adult things in general categories for shock value.
March 24th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
oh oh oh
I’ve asked for this for SO long.
They just delete all of my perfectly well written questions about **** that have no sexual context for “adult content” .

NO CHATTING OR PERSONAL COMMUNICATIONS: You may meet friends or other interesting people on Yahoo! Answers with whom you’d like to engage in personal correspondence. If so, please use the chat option on your profile page, rather than use Yahoo! Answers itself. Questions that are chatty, or attempts to engage others in personal communications, will be removed. Some examples of questions that do not comply with the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines are below. These are just a few examples, and we reserve the right to change, remove, or add to the list at any time, without notice:
How are you?
Anyone want to chat?
What’s your name?
How old are you?
Do you like my avatar?
What time is it?
Who here likes steak?
How many points do you have?
Who likes Britney Spears?
Who agrees that there needs to be an over 18 category?

2nd round is worse than the first round.
March 30th, 2010 at 6:04 pm
Boring you are.
Darkside losing its touch it is.
April 1st, 2010 at 12:28 am
I say over 18 would be great. After this, lets bring down ebay. **** is their largest category, yet it is hidden under everything else…and if you win it,you can not use paypal to pay for it! I am sick of ‘family vales advocates’ trying to control what we see and hear. Why is a **** worse than seeing someone who was strangled and ***** on some CSI show?
April 1st, 2010 at 7:35 am
I will vote on it.
April 3rd, 2010 at 9:38 am
I don’t agree I think you are under 18 and I feel you the one who gave anserws that make askers feeling bad .
April 6th, 2010 at 6:52 am
MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.. I MEAN ALL SORTS OF FORCES LIKE TSUNAMI AND TORNADO… AND BE WITH IT…
FOREVER!
April 7th, 2010 at 8:17 pm
I agree. That way “under 18″s can fake it if they’re curious, but normal ppl don’t gave to see that kind of stuff.
April 10th, 2010 at 8:47 am
you can try other channel 4 sex&porn. You don’t think so
April 11th, 2010 at 3:11 pm
I agree with that! But I think it would be very impossible because in Yahoo you can change your age/birthday, immediately or whenever the user want to…
April 12th, 2010 at 5:15 pm
You could not check who is on line and who is answering.
April 15th, 2010 at 12:07 pm
It could be helpful at some points, but I think that they haven’t restrict a certain category by an age because they want everyone to share their knowledge.
Although I have found many questions way of the track that wouldn’t even meet those who are above 18.
Yet, people below 18 can still view those categories even if they don’t have to post or answer questions , the best way is to block that category from people under 18 so that they can’t even view it.
So I agree with you.
April 17th, 2010 at 12:41 pm
I have to agree with Dexter. There are more than enough adult chat rooms on the Internet without turning YA into one too. The “topics of adults” from what I gathering from your question is things that should be discussed in the proper forum and YA is a great family forum; why turned it into a “closed door” session?
April 20th, 2010 at 12:07 pm
cant keep youngens out
April 21st, 2010 at 10:26 pm
how bout a star wars freak category???
April 23rd, 2010 at 2:12 pm
don’t know
April 24th, 2010 at 1:51 am
Difficult to enforce.
April 28th, 2010 at 3:18 pm
I agree that there should be parental guidelines in this. Its a fabulous format and fun…to hone my column skills and inherent as well as learned data. There you asked and that is MY reply!!!!!!! And, I WILL email Yahoo and request an age distinction for this format. I would also like to see the Indians, or middle easterners keep to their side of life…we do NOT think alike. The questions are posted strangely to me. I do NOT get a lot of what they re asking….things like what is a ‘pooja’…like I care? NO! ~ Let’s stick to mainstream Romance languages here and society as it is. I may get **** mail for this, however it IS how I feel!!!!!!! My answer and I am sticking to it!!!!!!!!
April 29th, 2010 at 4:57 pm
No, i do not belive there shuld be an over 18 catagory. I belive some questions shulde have a check point to verify your age before letting you read them. this would be much better.
