Is this illegal? will my email address get blacklisted?

I have recently started a new company up selling personalised products. I have acquired about 1,500 email addresses from an online forum in the field of what I specialise in.

Can I send emails to these people or will my email address get black listed? will my email service provider be annoyed. Could I use someone like Campaign Monitor?

Many Thanks

Don;t worry about it, unless you think you are a going to be a serious spammer.
Just get a junk email address (the usual Y, Hot or G) and use that. Don’t use one provided by your ISP if that worries you.
    Good luck.

Since none of those people asked to be on your mailing list, many will flag it as spam, possibly getting your email address and the netblock of IP numbers blacklisted. Your internet provider probably won’t like that, and some of the recipients may look at the complete headers, do ARIN whois, and look up your IP’s abuse department to tell them about it. Some may also report you to the FTC. If you use a privacy protection service they will complain to the abuse department of your registrar and will report your privacy protection service to the FTC.

Spam is also referred to as “unsollicited commercial email”.

You want to send information to people without getting their permission first - so, yes, you would be spamming and this could result in being blacklisted.

The best way is to create the opportunity for people to subscribe (double confirmation system).
That way you will get addresses of people who are interested, and have given you their permission to send your newsletter / ads to.

How to advertise your newsletter - you could place an add in those online forums for example.
Or, if you contribute to them (the forums) use in your tag or signature a link to your site.

No, you can not send E-mails to those people if your mail service provider is Yahoo. Yahoo and most ALL other free mail service providers have limits on how many and how often you can send mail. Yahoo’s limit is 100 a day, with only 100 addresses per mail item, with no more than 50 to one domain. If you go over it, Yahoo will block your mail, keep it up and they will suspend your account permanently. You an look at some of the premium account, but I also believe they have limits on your mailings, too. You may have to look into a web host, like the companies use that send out newsletters and they cost.
