What is the correct and professional way to ask businesses, friends, family, and associates for money donation

This is for a campaign and I am doing my part to assist as a friend. I want to make a flyer and make phone calls , and even send emails. The candidate is running for office for the 1st time. She has started out slowly and needs tips on asking for donations (monetary) to help support her campaign. Anyone with advice ? Please serious answers only.

**has a campaign mgr but things could be better with funds
**campaign is located in Florida
**want to do it the correct way legally :)

For a candidate to have a chance she probably needs at least 10 people who really support her and are willing to volunteer for her campaign to get it off the ground. I would try collaborating with a couple of her supporters and her to have a candidate drop in at your house for a couple of hours. Do it at brunch and serve something easy like pancakes, fruit and good coffee. Invite people who you think might find her platform appealing and who might be interested in donating money but also time (not everyone can write a check these days). See how it works and if you get even only a couple of nibbles see if one of the newly converted would be willing to host a similar event at his or her home (with your help of course) with a new group of friends.
