How do I report McCain campaign spam?
I am constantly receiving unsolicited spam emails from the McCain campaign. No matter how many times I unsubscribe (even though I never subscribed in the first place), they continue to send spam emails.
It’s certainly illegal to spam people repeatedly, especially when it’s unsolicited and unsubscribe requests are being ignored. So, I’m sure it’s illegal for this shady campaign to use internet spam in a last ditch effort to try to get votes.
Who do I report this activity to? What commission oversees illegal campaign practices, and what authority has the right to penalize them?
Thanks!
For me, this is not about it coming from McCain. It’s about illegal campaign practices. By all means, if the Obama campaign is doing this too, please take the information in this thread and file complaints against them too. Government is shady enough as it is. We don’t need this kind of crap adding to the steaming pile…
Here is a link I got from the FBI site. This is where you go to report internet crimes.
If you have experienced this illegal campaign spam from any candidate and can provide proof of that, please file a complaint here…

Any site that you unsubscribe from claims it can take up to 30 days to remove you from the list. Why should this be any different? Reaching.

You may report McCain SPAM the same as you would Obama SPAM.

Try the FBI. Or the FCC. There are laws on the books about this kind of thing,

More then likely someone you know has signed you up..I had the same thing going on with the Obama campaign at the begining…You just have to keep unsubscribing until whoever keeps signing you up stops.
Check and see who has your email address and/or change it.
If your email has a spam filter (mine does) you can always just mark it as spam and then you won’t have to see it again.

Funny can’t get rid of Democrat spam, not to mention get their commercials of my screen, they are outspending McCain 3 to 1
If you want some info on which Arabs are giving hm the dough look up Alaweed and what he owns, then ask yourself how unbiased the media is.

That is exactly how I feel about the Obama campaign. I get several phone calls per week, and my house and PC mailbox is stuffed with negative Dem sponsored advertisements. The email can be blocked, the regular post and phone calls however will serve only to annoy me.

Contact your server. Better have your proof ready though. I get Obama spam all day long though I have unsubscribed too. Furthermore, they usually state it will be a while before you are purged from the system. The best thing you can do is what the rest of us do…hit the delete button or specify it in your message rules as spam. Now…is that all better? I’ll get ya a glass of koolaid.

I’d report it to either yahoo or the FBI.

Delete them. In two weeks you should not receive any more and it will be a mute issue.

Wow- is baby girl the one sending all of it to you? I actually don’t think that you can regulate your spam, if they have all the same address you can block the johnmccain.com part or check out this website for some tips:

Unsubscribe at the bottom of the emails and then block the address. You might have to do it more than once because they may be coming from more than one source.

Many people are having this same problem, and found that kneeling on the ground and praying to barack obama worked out fine.
Just kidding but usually it just works to unsubscribe… sorry i could’nt help.

Get a bayesian filtering program, or ignore McCain like the rest of America.
October 3rd, 2010 at 4:41 pm
the same way you would report any kind of internet spam. ANd then block them! Cmon man!
October 4th, 2010 at 2:05 pm
There should be an unsubscribe at the end of the email….. that’s all you have to do, I did it during the Clinton Campaign and such…… I got a letter from McCain asking for 5 g’s and they even included a postage page envelope…… LOL, I sent it back asking for them to give me 5 grand for my bills. LMAO I don’t even get 5 grand a month and then yesterday I got an email from Rudy Giuliani, I replied in the words of Jon Stewart, F— All of Ya’ll……… and then unsubscribed.

I am being hammered by the Republicans as well and resent it vehemently. Quit sending me your garbage folks.

Thats easy, report it to your local authorities. They typically can direct you to a special tasks force in the city that handles spammers. Political Spamming is a federal offense and is HIGHLY illegal (with penalties up to 5-10 years in prison.) This is because its a invasion of identity and privacy.
Its likely that these spam mails are coming from so hacker that has access to your email (or IP) address.
You can also report it to your internet service provider. (Should it be ATT, the your in luck as they are currently under investigation by the FBI for supplying agencies in the government with spy-data on customers (this violates the constitution.)
